What does seating look like?

  • This is a sample floor plan for Sumo + Sushi. Please note that each venue will look slightly different. In general, the sumo mat is centered in the room with Front Row being the closest ticket around the ring followed by Sushi + The Show. VIP Sky Suite is the most premium experience on an elevated platform with on-demand sushi and an open bar! The Show [Viewing Only] is bleacher style seating furthest from the ring.

  • The best way we can tell you is to show you! Here is a video from our 2022 San Francisco event.

IS THIS EVENT THE SAME AS A REAL SUMO TOURNAMENT IN JAPAN?

  • Sumo + Sushi is equal parts entertainment and education! We do feature live exhibition matches in the last part of the show but we also focus on sharing first-hand stories and experiences from Konishiki as well as education around the sport of Sumo in general. This will not operate as a traditional tournament with live sumo action the entire event.

  • The show runs approximately 90 minutes in 3 acts with brief intermissions where you can purchase drinks or use the bathroom. 

How do I request a Veggie Bento?

  • This will be collected through a survey question when you purchase your tickets!

What will be included in the Bento boxes? What about Front row?

  • The menu hasn’t been finalized quite yet but it will be added to the website once it has been! You can review past menus on the here for examples.  

  • Front Row and Sushi + The Show have different bento box menus. The menus will be posted for each city on the ticketing page!

Is there a wait-list for the front row or get in the ring? I see they are sold out!

  • We do not currently have a wait-list for these ticket types. We recommend arriving early and checking in at the Merch table day of to see if there are last minute upgrades available for purchase.

Two groups of us purchased separate ticket TYPES! How can we sit together??

  • All seating is done on a first come first served basis. The only way to ensure your entire group sits together is to arrive together and wait to be seated at the same time. You will also need to have the same ticket type as seating is separated as such.

Is this event kid friendly?

  • As a standard policy, this event is 21+ due to liquor board and venue restrictions.

  • We are in the process of creating all ages event sessions where possible. Those sessions will be clearly labeled in the ticket name as *ALL AGES* and typically happen on Sundays. In all other instances, we cannot allow anyone under the age of 21.

    • Please note that for any All Ages shows, a ticket for a minor will be the same price as an adult. Our bento box options will not change and we do not allow substitutions or alternate menus for minors.

How does seating work for Sushi + The Show?

  • All seating is done on a first come first served basis. You will be seated once your entire party has arrived to ensure you are together. We will also point out that all seats are great seats as it is in the round!

Dietary restrictions?

  • Outside of a ‘Meat & Seafood’ and ‘Vegetarian’ option, we are unable to accommodate specific dietary restrictions or allergies.

How do I change my meal preference?

  • You can edit your bento preference on your ticket within your Universe account! Follow the instructions below:

    • Log into Universe, click on ‘My Tickets’

    • Click ‘More’ on the right hand side of the page, select ‘Edit Guest Info’

    • Update your Bento Preferences to the correct selection

    • Click ‘Save Changes’ 

How long is the event?

  • The show runs approximately 90 minutes in 3 acts with brief intermissions where you can purchase drinks or use the bathroom. 

How early should I arrive before the show begins?

  • Doors open 1 hour prior to the show time. You are welcome to begin lining up prior to that time.

Is there a dress code?

  • While we aim to provide an elevated experience, there is no specific dress code.

Is there a bag policy?

  • This will vary depending on the venue. Please check the website for restrictions pertaining to your city!

What else might be on the prohibited item / inappropriate actions list?

  • Flash photography is strictly prohibited

  • Outside food and beverages

  • Weapons of any kind

  • Hate speech or derogatory comments or actions

  • Interrupting the Sumo show in any way

  • Violence of any kind

  • Any camera with a lens more than six inches in length will not be permitted inside. Monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, lights, and other photography equipment are also prohibited. Flash photos are strictly prohibited.

Can you purchase a bento box if you purchased The Show Only tickets?

  • No, we will not have bento’s available for purchase at the venue. Food service is only available for those who purchased Sushi + The Show, Front Row and Sky Suite tickets. There will be snacks available for purchase but not a full meal or bento box!

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?

  • Seattle - there will be paid parking available inside the Lumen Field Parking Garage or North Lot. Stay tuned for more exact instructions in your pre-event email.

  • San Francisco - there is paid parking available nearby The Palace of Fine Arts. Stay tuned for more exact instructions in your pre-event email.

  • Los Angeles - There is paid parking on-site at The Barker Hangar and extremely limited parking nearby. We recommend you ride share to the venue due to parking availability limitations. Stay tuned for more exact instructions in your pre-event email.
